Woodcock fest (at last!)

A deer path led through waist high ferns. We followed our ears, straining to hear the faint hunger cries of great-spotted woodpecker nestlings. All of a sudden a woodcock flew up from in front of us with it's legs trailing and making a strange call - we froze. Looking carefully all around us and down at our feet we could see nothing and were about to walk on when we saw it, under some old fern fronds - a gorgeous fluffball! First one fluffball. Then another, and another, and another! They were SO good at hiding, and so still had they been sitting that they were covered in pine pollen.

The perfect hiding place for little chicks: can you find them?

Here is that first picture again; did you find them?
